Supporting Burkina Women's Education fund

NOTE FROM THE FOUNDING PRESIDENT

in 2011, I established the Burkina Women's Education Fund in France, where I had retired. That same year, I asked my son Jan to set up a parallel association in the US so that US donors could receive a tax benefit. He did and he called it Chance for Change. The money collected on both sides of the Atlantic goes to the same place, Burkina Faso, under my overall direction in France. As I was formerly with the United Nations, I had many contacts in Geneva, and so in 2018 I set up a third association, the Burkina Women's Education Fund (Geneva). All three associations are registered with their home governments and so donors in all three countries can claim a tax benefit. Geneva Board Members set about updating the existing French website and launched it in 2019. Meanwhile, the Chance for Change website needed updating, and so CFC also piggybacked on the new Geneva/French website. We've provided you with a link to the European version; we hope you find it helpful.

We Are Fundraising !

Since 2011, our efforts have fueled the dreams of 111 talented young women in Burkina Faso, propelling them into careers such as agronomists and doctors.

We have 38 students enrolled this academic year, plus a roster of promising candidates who don’t have the means to pursue their ambitions… yet.

Welcome To

Chance For Change

We are a registered charity which funds the higher education of young women in Burkina Faso, one of the poorest countries in the world. We also provide health care, hygiene and personal advice, school lunches and computer training.

Our Students

We are supporting seven new students this year and Romera is one of them. Her studies: informatics and telecommunication.

Fred's Story

“I travelled to Burkina Faso in 2009 and 2010, each time for a couple of weeks. What struck me most was, yes, these were among the poorest people, but were brimming with optimism and ready to work hard.”
